For most travelers the airport is simply the place your journey begins or ends. However, there are some cities who are putting more thought (and expense) into creating the most enjoyable airport experience possible for both the business flyer and the vacationer. Here are a few from around U.S. with standout features and one very notable international airport that might be worth visiting on its own accord.

DFW: Dallas/Forth Worth goes above and beyond when it comes to amenities for children. DFW boasts play areas in terminals B, C, D, and E. Plus with the Skylink trams, getting from one terminal to another is not only quick and easy, but fun.

SFO: For the business flyer looking for an office away from the office, look no further than San Francisco's "Traveler's Workstations". These areas provide multi-seat desks with comfortable chairs to set up laptops to put the last minute touches on that big presentation. The workstations are free and are available 24 hours a day.

JFK: Fine dining and airports don't often go hand in hand. However, New York's John F. Kennedy airport is bringing the two together. Top notch eateries like Deep Blue Sushi, and La Vie cater to those looking for an upscale meal between flights. Also, don't miss 5ive Steak, a gourmet alternative to the fast food joints you'll find at most airports around the country.

SIN: With so much to do, you may feel the need to schedule additional sightseeing time for Changi Airport Singapore. If you need a few hours to catch up on sleep, try one of the three napping areas (Terminals 1, 2, and 3). Should you prefer to catch a quick flick, Changi offers free movie viewings 24 hours a day (Terminals 2, and 3). Take a dip in the swimming pool, or relax in the jacuzzi (Terminal 1). Take in the sites with one of two free city tours (Terminals 2, and 3). Or visit the first ever airport Butterfly Garden (Terminal 3). Don't like butterflies? Try the Cactus Garden (Terminal 1), the Fern Garden, the Orchid Garden, or the Sunflower Garden (Terminal 2). I'm really just skimming the highlights here – there's a ton more to do – and again, I'm talking about AN AIRPORT!

So get yourself on some airplanes and see what you think of these forward leaning world class airports.
